Vote in the STCU board election.

As STCU continues to grow, so do the responsibilities of our elected members who serve on the STCU Board of Directors and Audit Committee.

One of the benefits of being part of a credit union is having a say in how it’s run. As a member-owned not-for-profit financial cooperative, members don’t just keep their money here, they help lead the way.

From March 1–13, eligible members can vote for STCU’s Board of Directors and Audit Committee.* These elected members help set policy, provide oversight, and guide decisions that shape the future of your not‑for‑profit credit union.

Why your vote matters.

The Board of Directors and Audit Committee represent you and all STCU members. The people you elect help:

  • Set long‑term direction for the credit union.
  • Ensure STCU operates responsibly and ethically.
  • Protect the financial health of a member‑owned organization.

When you vote, you’re helping decide who speaks for members like you.

What you’ll need to vote.

Voting is quick and secure. To get started, you’ll need:

  • Your STCU member number (found on your paper or online statements).
  • A few moments to verify your eligibility.

You can vote online or directly from the STCU mobile app.

Who is eligible?

Most members qualify. You may vote if you:

  • Are a primary member in good standing.
  • Are 18 or older.
  • Joined STCU before December 31, 2025.

Each eligible member may vote once. Your eligibility will be verified when you begin the voting process.

Candidate statements.

Board of Directors:

Justin Botejue – Incumbent

Over my past six years of service on the STCU Board of Directors, our focus has been increasing member value through strong stewardship, thoughtful strategy, and targeted investments, all with an eye on safe and sustainable growth. I believe our growth matters most when it helps members and staff flourish: Members through trustworthy, convenient financial services that support their goals, and employees through a culture that helps them grow and serve with excellence. I would be honored to earn your vote to continue this direction.

Bill DeReu– Incumbent

Having completed my first term on the STCU Board of Directors, following two years as an Affiliate Committee Member, I have developed a deep appreciation for STCU's impact on its members, employees, and the broader community. As Chair of the Finance and Risk Committee, I have provided oversight that is aligned with STCU’s mission, with a strong emphasis on safety, governance, and financial stewardship. Guided by a commitment to servant leadership, and supported by my financial education and professional background, I will continue working to ensure STCU remains “Here for good.”

Tyler Whitney

After 15 years in Spokane and North Idaho, my family and I recently moved back home to the Tri-Cities, where I am proud to support organizations that invest locally. I currently serve as an Affiliate Committee Member on STCU's Finance and Risk Committee, as well as boards of the Mid-Columbia Children’s Museum and my neighborhood homeowners’ association. In my legal practice, I am fortunate to work with consumer-owned utilities that make transformative, strategic investments in their communities, just like STCU. It would be my honor to serve on the STCU Board.

Audit Committee:

Lisa McCann – Incumbent

As a Spokane native and 30-year STCU member, I support the crucial role the credit union plays in the lives of our members and the community as a whole. Having served on the STCU Audit Committee since 2017, I also understand the important role of governance in a growing financial institution, especially in our increasingly complex regulatory environment. With a firm grasp of risk management, business and accounting processes, and internal control, I aim to contribute my skillset to STCU’s mission to be "Here for good."
