Credit unions coming together to serve their communities.
International Credit Union Day is dedicated to the global credit union movement, rooted in the philosophy of "people helping people."
In Spokane, STCU volunteers will be serving at Hutton Settlement, which for more than 100 years has provided a safe, nurturing home for children in need. Our team will support Hutton’s HOPE projects, designed to foster healing and self-sufficiency.
In the Tri-Cities, teams will assemble grief kits for Cork’s Place, a program that supports youth and families navigating the loss of a loved one.
The history of International Credit Union Day.
On the third Thursday of October every year, credit unions around the world celebrate International Credit Union Day. It’s a tradition that’s been going strong since 1948.
It’s all about recognizing the power of cooperation and the difference credit unions make in their communities.
This year marks a decade of Spokane-area credit unions joining forces for a volunteer project, and four years for Tri-Cities credit unions.

A little bit about credit unions.
Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives where people come together to save, borrow, and bank with a shared purpose. They're owned and governed by their members, which means every member gets a say and shares in the benefits.
Credit unions focus on financial education, community support, and putting people before profit.
