Since its launch in 2023, the Foundation has focused on the impact areas of education, arts and culture, and economic development. It was established to ensure the credit union, with a proven, decades-long tradition of charitable giving, could cement its commitment to communities in perpetuity.

Since 1994, CHAS Health has provided patients with high-quality medical, dental, pharmacy, and behavioral health services regardless of insurance status. Founded in 2020, the CHAS Health Foundation promotes that mission by investing in patients, partners, and programs, with an emphasis on urgent needs, community health, and rural support.

Founded in 1978, NEW Health operates multiple medical, dental, and pharmacy sites in Washington’s Ferry, Stevens, and Pend Oreille counties. Its NEW Health University creates education pathways for rural youth, and to empower current employees with training and career plans for a sustainable healthcare workforce.

“After a tumultuous start to the decade, STCU saw a need to further commit to the success of our communities, and to step up as a force for good” said Marty Dickinson, STCU’s Chief Community Officer. “We realized that our members and employees expected nothing less, and the foundation was the result. This milestone is proof of that pledge, and it’s just the beginning.”

The Foundation crossed the $1 million line with donations of $20,000 each to the CHAS Health Foundation and NEW Health. The two organizations embody the kind of innovation that the Foundation seeks to support as it addresses the evolving needs of our communities.

In its first two years, the foundation made contributions to wildfire relief, the Bonner and Boundary Forever Fund, the Children’s Reading Foundation of the Mid-Columbia, LaunchNW, the Inchelium Cultural Research Center, Second Harvest of the Inland Northwest, Emerge CDA, Terrain, the Hispanic Academic Achievers Program (HAAP), and dozens of other non-profits, including many during its annual “Season of Giving” every holiday season.

The foundation is administered by the Innovia Foundation, a community organization serving 20 counties in Eastern Washington and North Idaho.

“We’ve been inspired by the wide range of grants awarded by the Here for Good Foundation. It’s a reflection of the continued needs of our region, and speaks to how well STCU knows its members and their communities,” said Innovia Chief Executive Officer Shelly O’Quinn.

STCU’s member-owned structure means the credit union thrives when its members succeed. The foundation allows the credit union to respond to the changing needs of its membership, including those in outlying areas.

“The Here for Good Foundation will continue to contribute to the areas served by STCU, reflecting the needs of our members, their families, and the organizations they hold dear,” said STCU President and CEO Lindsey Myhre. “We’re inherently linked to the success and vitality of the many diverse communities in our region that our members call home.”
