What does it cost to participate in an STCU rewards program?

There is no cost to participate in the STCU rewards program! However, you may be responsible for taxes, fees, or other charges when redeeming points towards airline tickets and other rewards or benefits provided by participating companies. For details, see the STCU Rewards Program Terms and Conditions or business Rewards Program Terms and Conditions.

Earning points

How do I earn rewards points?

STCU members can earn 1x point for every $1 spent on purchases with any consumer STCU rewards Mastercard. With an STCU Premier Rewards World Mastercard, however, you can earn 2x points on two spending categories of your choice and 3x points on all travel purchases.

If you return a purchase and receive credit to your account, the points are deducted from your total. Fraudulent transactions reversed from your account are also deducted from your point total.

Where can I see how many points I have earned?

Log into your STCU online banking account. Your points are displayed on the right side of the "dashboard" screen. Click the link for details. Or, if it's easier, you can also find your points on your monthly statement.

When are points posted to my account?

Points are typically awarded in one to three business days after the qualifying purchase is posted to the account.

Redeeming points

How do I redeem my points?

Log into your STCU online banking account and click "Go to rewards" to find the many options for redeeming your points. You or any joint account holder can redeem your points.

If you need help, feel free to call the STCU Rewards Service Center at (866) 252-7610 and choose option 1, from 3 a.m. to 8 p.m. Pacific on weekdays or 3 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific on weekends. All redemptions are final, as we cannot offer refunds or cancellations.

What can I get when I redeem my points?

Lots of things! Here's an abbreviated list of the possibilities:

  • Airline tickets.
  • Gift cards and merchandise.
  • Cash back to your STCU accounts.
  • Cruises and travel packages.
  • Make a donation to your favorite charity.
  • Gift points to a deserving STCU member.

For a comprehensive description of redemption possibilities, please read the STCU rewards card terms and conditions.

2x point categories

Members with consumer premier rewards cards get to pick two categories that will earn 2x points.

To choose your categories, log in to your online banking account and select “Go to rewards” under the “Rewards” section. Once you’re in your rewards portal, click “Your Choice Rewards” from the “Browse & Redeem” section. Select the categories you’d like to earn 2x points for.

To get the most out of your points, you’ll want to think about where you expect to spend the most for the next three months.

Those categories are restaurants, recurring bills, gas, grocery stores, Walmart, electronics and department stores, Amazon.com, drug stores, home improvement, appliances and furnishings, charities.

If you don’t choose your spending categories, they will default as restaurants and recurring bills.

Can I change my 2x point categories?

Yes, depending on how long it has been since you last selected your 2x point categories. Your categories can be changed once a quarter.

Point expiration and limits

Do my points expire?

The points you earn or that are gifted to you never expire, as long as you make at least one purchase on your card every 24 months.

Is there a limit to the points I can accumulate?

No! Feel free to redeem your points as you earn them, or build up your points for bigger rewards. Points can add up quickly when using your STCU Premier Rewards World Mastercard, because there is no cap on the number of double or triple points you can earn.

Am I required to allocate points to a certain category to use them?

You may redeem points for any available item, service, credit, charity, or experience. Points are applied at the time of redemption.

Using points for flights

Can I combine my points and frequent flyer miles for free airline tickets?

Sorry. The STCU rewards program is independent of airline frequent flyer miles, and you cannot redeem your points for miles.

Can I earn airline frequent flyer miles on tickets I purchased with STCU points?

Yes. Provide your airline frequent flyer number on the booking website, or to the ticketing agent if you redeem your points by phone. Work directly with the airline if you forget to provide your frequent flyer number or need to work out any discrepancies.

What happens if I cancel a flight booked through the STCU rewards website?

Tickets are non-changeable and non-refundable. Any changes must be handled directly with the airline listed on your itinerary. You may be subject to airline fees.

Who should I contact if something goes wrong with a flight that I purchased using my STCU rewards?

Contact the airline directly, using the phone numbers printed on your flight itinerary. Your itinerary will be emailed to you after you redeem points for air travel.

Can rewards be shipped to foreign countries?

STCU only ships merchandise purchased with rewards to addresses within the United States, or to U.S. military addresses (APO/FPO) overseas. Gift cards and other merchandise purchased with rewards points are not shipped to U.S. territories such as American Samoa, Guam, Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Do reward certificates or gift cards expire?

Expiration dates vary depending on the merchant, so be sure to read the details provided in the rewards description for any certificate or gift card you're considering.

Can e-gift cards be sent to a mobile phone?

Some e-gift cards have that option. If it's available for the e-gift card you select, you'll see instructions on the e-gift card web page. Additional merchant terms and conditions for using e-gift cards on mobile devices may apply.
