National scam alert.
The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) recently alerted us to fraudulent emails and websites made to look like official communications from the Small Business Administration (SBA).
Their purpose is to trick you into logging in to the bogus site with your SBA/PPP loan information, putting your sensitive data at risk. STCU is unaware of any STCU PPP applicants who have been targeted. However, out of an abundance of caution, we wanted to make sure you were aware of any potential threats.
The real SBA will not ask you to log onto SBA.gov with PPP information. When the time comes, STCU will send you an email with a link to apply for PPP loan forgiveness. This is the only time you will need to provide any kind of personal/business information. The email and link will be internal and secure.
Please be cautious and be alert! Always feel free to contact your business banker or the STCU contact center if you have questions or suspicions.
If you responded to or clicked on a suspicious email regarding your PPP, please contact STCU at (509) 326-1954.
For more information about the scam, and how small businesses can protect themselves, read the CISA alert.
Please contact your STCU business banker. We'll be happy to help answer questions you may have. You can reach our commercial and business team by:
