If you're expecting a tax refund, you'll need your 10-digit STCU checking or saving account number — and the STCU nine-digit routing number (325182700) — for direct deposit from the IRS. If you're paying taxes, these account numbers may also be used for Direct Pay to the IRS from your STCU accounts. Direct Pay is free and available until 8:45 p.m. daily.

Locate your STCU tax statements.

Retrieve your STCU tax statement from last year by logging into STCU online banking and navigating to "My acccounts > View statements > Taxes.” If your statement is not yet available, check back at the end of January 2024.

Tax resources.

For help with your taxes, consider these options:

  • Visit the IRS Free File website. You might even be able to claim the Recovery Rebate Credit if you didn't get a full economic impact stimulus payment.
  • Visit the Free File Alliance website, with a list of all the organizations that have signed up as partners with the IRS to provide taxpayers a no-cost alternative to filing taxes.

Watch out for tax fraud.

Phishing and identity theft are two ways scammers could try to take advantage of you this tax season. They may even call pretending to be the IRS, threatening legal action if you don’t comply.

The worst part? You might not even know you’ve been targeted until the real IRS contacts you about a problem with your return.

Here are some signs of tax fraud to watch out for:

  • You get a letter from the IRS inquiring about a suspicious tax return that you did not file.
  • You can’t e-file your tax return because of a duplicate Social Security number.
  • You get a tax transcript in the mail that you didn’t request.
  • You get an IRS notice that an online account has been created in your name.

If any of these sound familiar, don’t panic. Visit the IRS website for tips on what to do next
