Lindsey Myhre, who started her STCU career as an account assistant 23 years ago, has been named one of the 15 most powerful women in credit unions by American Banker magazine.

STCU had 70,000 members and $388 million in total assets when Myhre joined the team. Today, she is Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of the region’s favorite credit union, with $5.8 billion in total assets, 38 branch locations and more than 270,000 members.

“Lindsey has had a huge impact on STCU’s culture and growth,” said Ezra Eckhardt, STCU president and CEO. “Her values are reflected throughout the organization, from our ‘here for good’ approach to servicing members and the community, to our commitment to the success and wellbeing of employees.”

Launched in 2022, The Most Powerful Women in Credit Unions recognition program celebrates the leaders who are driving innovation, catering to underserved communities and guiding the future of financial services. It shines a spotlight on the brightest, most forward-thinking individuals in the credit union industry.

“With unwavering passion and determination, our honorees are turning obstacles into opportunities while raising the bar for success,” says Chana Schoenberger, Editor-in-Chief of American Banker. “Their influential decisions are forging new paths for the future leaders of credit unions.”

The Most Powerful Women in Credit Unions is a part of American Banker’s continued coverage of the progress in diversity, equity and inclusion throughout financial services, and expands on the mission of supporting, empowering, celebrating and advancing women in the banking industry, including The Most Powerful Women in Banking™, now in its twenty-first year.

A complete list of the credit union honorees was published Tuesday, Nov.14, on the American Banker website.

Raised in Colville, Wash., Myhre arrived at the credit union with a bachelor’s degree in business administration – finance, from Western Washington University. As an employee, she used STCU’s tuition reimbursement program to fund an MBA through Western Governors University.

“I have a passion for numbers, I have a passion for people, and I have a passion for the community,” Myhre said. “At STCU, I can lead with my head and my heart.”

As CFO, Myhre is responsible for capital planning; financial analysis, modeling and reporting; treasury and liquidity management; risk management, financial control management, and strategic financial leadership.

As EVP, Myhre guides development and implementation of STCU’s vision, mission, and goals, leading the execution of strategic initiatives. She also serves as Chief Human Resources Officer, driving employee engagement for a distributed workforce spread across several states.

Myhre is a longtime member of the executive committee for Spokane Valley Partners Food Bank and Family Services. She is chair and treasurer for Spokane’s University District Development Association, as well as the University District Public Development Authority.

The mother of two daughters, Myhre is a consistent volunteer in the East Valley School District, serving as president of the EVHS Booster Club. She also serves as a mentor for the Gonzaga University Foundational Leadership individual leadership program (formerly Emerging Leaders Program).
