One-time payment from your STCU account.

To manually make a one-time payment from your STCU account, log into online banking, click on "Transfers," then choose the proper credit card or loan account you want to transfer money (make a payment) to.

Principal-only payments.

Yes, you can make a principal-only payment online to any eligible STCU consumer or home loan without penalty! Your payment must be made from an existing STCU checking or savings account, and only after your regular monthly loan payment is paid on time.

For many members, principal-only payments are a great way to pay a loan off faster and to save money by reducing your debt burden. Here's why: interest on a loan is charged on the amount you borrow, known as the principal. When you make periodic principal-only payments, you reduce the balance of your loan — the part that's being charged interest. Paying your loan off faster can shorten the term of your loan and reduce the total amount of interest owed.

It's easy to make a principal-only payment. Log into your online banking account and follow these steps:

  1. Click on "Transfers."
  2. Choose "Classic" transfer.
  3. Choose your existing STCU account to transfer money from.
  4. Choose the loan you want to pay.
  5. Select the "Principal-only" option, if available.
  6. Type in the amount you want to designate as principal-only.
  7. Select the date you would like to make the payment.
  8. Click "Submit Transfer," and review and confirm the transfer.

To set up recurring principal-only payments, choose "Classic" transfer and the "recurring payment" frequency.

Remember: principal-only payments do not replace your regular monthly payment; they are made in addition to your regular monthly payment.
