Snowmen and icy driveways galore. Old man winter is knocking at your door.
Chilly weather home maintenance is no cup of hot cocoa. While the weather outside may be starting to get frightful, we have some tips to keep your home delightful:
Indoor:
- Replace ripped insulation.
- Inspect pipes to avoiding freezing and breaking.
- Test smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
- Store window air conditioning units.
- Replace furnace filter every three months.
- Change the direction of ceiling fans.
- Seal doors and windows.
- Install weatherstripping or foam for doors with leaks.
- Replace caulk to door windows and windows.
- Use area rugs to cover tile and wood floors.
- Clean fireplace and chimney.
Outdoor:
- Clean heavy snow off gutters.
- Cover shrubs and plants during freeze warnings.
- Clean winter tools after use and store in a heated space.
- Trim or cut down trees and branches that are close to your home or powerlines.
- Shut off water to outside faucets.
- Drain outdoor hoses and store inside.
- Store outdoor furniture in your garage or shed.
- Clear driveway of snow and use sand or gravel for icy roads.
