North Idaho growth creates demand for sixth location.

STCU opened its sixth North Idaho branch location on February 3, continuing a period of unprecedented growth for the 85-year-old credit union.

[february 4, 2020]

The 3,300-square-foot Rathdrum Branch will be located at the southwest corner of Vera Street and Highway 41, directly across from Lakeland Junior High School, and will have a drive-through with teller and ATM access.

Bernardo/Wills Architects PC of Spokane designed the Craftsman-style building, which features a 30-foot railroad mural by North Idaho design firm ArtCoLab.

Since the opening of the Post Falls and Silver Lake branches in 2007, STCU’s membership has more than doubled. More than 30,000 members and 150 credit union employees call North Idaho home. STCU expects new personal and business memberships to keep pace as the region continues to grow.

"As our North Idaho membership expands, we want to make sure that we’re available when and where members need us," said STCU President and CEO Ezra Eckhardt. "We understand the importance of a convenient, full-service branch where STCU can do what it does best, which is serve our members and the community."

Branch Manager Suzanna Spencer and Assistant Branch Manager Katie Scardina will lead the branch after working at STCU's Post Falls and Silver Lake locations, respectively.

"We can’t wait to see some familiar faces, and to make some new friends, in Rathdrum," said Spencer, a member of the Rathdrum Chamber of Commerce. "The new branch is a great opportunity to deepen our ties to a community that many of us know and love."

The Rathdrum Branch follows the 2019 relocation and expansion of STCU’s Bonner County Branch in Ponderay, Idaho. Rathdrum will be the credit union's 24th location, including two newly opened Tri-Cities locations in Kennewick and Richland. A third Tri-Cities branch location, in Pasco, is slated to open later this year.
