A family-run confectionary.
Mother-and-daughter team Sally and Jess Winfrey agree on one thing: it's all about the butter.
What began in 2011 as a part-time, pop-up operation, Sweet Frostings Blissful Bakeshop has grown to a local dessert institution, with four locations and upwards of 40 employees. From dozens of cupcake flavors, to wedding cakes, macaroons, and beyond, Sweet Frostings has it covered.
“At some point I thought, ‘what if cupcakes are just a flash in the pan?” Sally says. “We've got to have something else to offer.”
“STCU is there in a heartbeat.”
With the STCU Hutton Branch across the lobby from their downtown Spokane location, Sally and Jess know how important it is to have a reliable partner they can rely on. “STCU is such a good fit," Sally says. "We have a lot of little needs, and they’re always behind us 100%.”
Sweet Frostings produces nearly 2,000 cupcakes a day. “That’s about 500 pounds of butter, and 1,000 pounds of powdered sugar, if you’re counting,” says Jess Winfrey.
From low-fee business checking accounts and convenient online and mobile banking, to Mastercard rewards credit cards that earn point as you spend, STCU has a variety of tools to manage expenses and to keep the customers coming.
“We want to support our employees, and STCU is there to support us.”
As a family-run business, Sweet Frostings strives to empower their employees, many of whom are head-of-household, sole providers.
“We’re a women-owned business, and it can be hard out there for single women,” Jess says. “We see women trying to be more than what people tell them they can be, and we want to support that.”
Location, location, location.
Sweet Frostings has four locations around Spokane, and knows it’s important to have STCU nearby.
“There’s an STCU close to virtually every one of my stores,” says Sally. “Every time we get a new employee, it’s the first place we send them.”
STCU has 24 locations across the Inland Northwest, including Spokane, North Idaho, and the Tri-Cities.
“STCU is there in a heartbeat if we need anything,” Sally says. “The variety of services they provide for us is kind of like the variety of cupcakes at Sweet Frostings.”
